Dashboard Draft

Windshield Draft
I have a 96 XJS convertible.
The DC area is experiencing some really cold weather right now. When I drove my car home last night, on the highway, my hands were getting blasted with constant cold air.
I had the heat running, so I turned that off, thinking it was running the defrost vents, but it had no effect.
I ran my hand around (while driving at highway speeds) and I felt the most draft around where the VIN plate sticks up from the dashboard.
Is there something unusual about this?
Never had a water issue, and the car is a daily driver and is not garaged.

On your model the screen is glued in. This might be being caused by the screen having come separated from the body metal, which is quite common and the screen can be reglued by a screen shop. However, there are also well documented horror stories concerning facelifted cars' body metal that makes up the screen aperture corroding badly, so if the screen is separating, be braced for a bit of welding work before it can be re-attached.
