The warning chime(door open, key in ignition, lights on, etc) has stopped working. I can hear a faint chime, but not at the normal volume. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

My car is an 83 XJ6. but, I think it shares similar architecture.


In some recent electrical travails, I found mine to be unplugged.
A PO apparently didn't like the irking noise. Not a big deal to me,
I am seriously hearing challenged!!!


Mine was under the driver side scuttle, LHD car. A side connector at the ignition switch. The chime is a round flat like silver device.


Were I to cars, I'd swap it for a device that created a more pleasant
noise, a door bell melody... Cause, mine isn't a chime, it is a buzzer.


My old house has two door bells. One a buzzer, the old kind. I seldom hear it.


The other a melodious chime, wireless nonethe less!!


One in the kitchen! Why??? The other at the back of the house, my office.


Old house door buzzers can be used in home and auto electric diagnosis,.

Mine had that when i got it. Found a fuse blown, sorry, cannot remember which one in which of the numerous fuse panels it was. But same symptoms, weak chime.
