Door rubber seals

Xjs v12 facelift coupe
i need to change door rubbers . Must the doors be removed in order to install them. According to my local mechanic that is what he has to do and charge me for.
any information please would be appreciated

I've not had the rubbers all the way out of my facelift, but I can't see why the door would have to come off - I've never had to remove the door on any other car to get the rubbers out.

Where in Berks are you? I'm near Bracknell.

It does not.

Make sure you lube up the rubber with some dishsoap....it makes the install much easier. I did it in the summertime, when the temps kept the rubber soft.
