door surround trim positioning
Hello: I have to clean up, reglue and press into place the door surround trim on my SJX. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions on tricks to make it easier.
It had half fallen out of place, so I removed it completely but I found it really difficult to get the plastic plugs into all the holes and have them stay there - in fact I did not succeed.
In the process I realised the piece is really messy anyway, but I am wondering if the hold in place difficulty means I need to replace all the little plastic plugs that hold it?
What have been others' experiences with this piece. I am working on the driver's side but the passenger side also looks risky now, especially since my wife put her hand up there thinking there was a hand hold grip for getting in and out or when we go around corners!
The second question I have to work on is what is the best adhesive for holding the fabric on the underlying (I think plastic) part, after I have cleaned it all up?
(and what is the proper technical name for the part?)

They are called KANT RAILS.
The plastic parts are sometimes called Christmas trees.
I have a large collection of them in my parts bins if you need them.
Send me a PM or text with a pic of a good one.
Contact me offline for details.
