Hi,

I own my XJ-S from 1993 for two weeks. With the bad and cold weather in the Netherlands I’am using the climate control of the Jag.
but….in the LOW position the noise of the interior fan is pretty much. This compared to a modern car which start with a low speed (and low noise).
Is it normal that the fan makes pretty much noise even in LOW?

Or is there something wrong with the electronics to control the fan speed? In MID and HIGH the fan is blowing more with more noise….

 

Which fan right or left?
Might need to drop the fan(s) to see if some foreign object is lodged in the blades of the blower?
Maybe a bushing is worn?

 

There is a long list of things that can all be solved by removing the fans and servicing the motor bearings.
Getting the fans out from under the dash is the only hard part, the rest is easy.

 

It could be a failure of the Darlington transistor which can cause one of the fans to run at the higher speed when set on Low.

Thnx! I don’t know if it’s the right or left fan. We should open the dash then to look at the fans and the Darlington transistor.
