Default Squeecky noise from ventilator

Hi,

Ever since my XK came back with me to the cold country.. my interior fan is squeaking.. when its cold in the morning its constant.. then it dissolves a bit until I break or accelerate or take a corner.. or in short.. everytime im not standing still or just driving along the highway.. I know its the interior fan because when I shutdown the climate control its gone.. and when putting the fan in max its really loud..

Is this a known issue? Is it easy to get to the fan itself and lubricate it a bit.. or am I looking at replacing the entire thing?

Known issue if it's really the aspirator motor. The known to be noisy from day one. There's a few threads on this matter.

I had a chirping HVAC blower in a Lexus. Eventually it seized up and I replaced it. Shortly thereafter I found a leak into the trunk that was causing water to pool, causing excess moisture in the car, which I think caused corrosion on the steel parts of the blower.

The XK is famous for getting a clogged evaporator drain line, which can lead to water pouring into the passenger footwell. I wonder if this is what is causing your blower issues, but I don't hear many cases of blower problems In the XK!

just to be sure, its not the humming noise from the (sort of small laptop ventilator) near the steering wheel.. the squeaky noise actually is louder than my radio at some times.. a twist of the fan knob in the middle of the dash controls the sound too.. when switching of the car, that particular squeaky noise is gone.. and the laptop ventilator humming sound takes over..

It kinda sounds as if it is coming from behind the glovebox..

This is only a shot in the dark, but I had a similar thing happen to me. It sounded like something was caught in the fan, making it much louder. An analogy would be putting a playing card against your bicycle spokes. I could not get to the sound, as it sounded like it was coming from the back of the dashboard.

Turns out it was a leaf that was stuck in the air intake for the cabin, right under the hood.

Again, this is a long shot, but might be worth a look.
