Default Door / window rubber replacement.

How easy is it to replace the window rubber on the door?

Unfortunately not very. The chrome piece is screwed in the door form the inside. To get to the screws you have to take out the window. The rubber piece slides in a groove on the inside of the chrome piece.
This is all after taking the door panel off.

Bugger - sound more effort than its worth at the moment.
I'll add it to the when I am really bored list of like to do's.

May more - more urgent things need to be done first.
cheers

Its not that hard on a convertible. Pulls in and out fairly easy with a bit of silicon spray to.lube it. I bought some off e Bay. Not the best but an improvement on the one that was in

I think it may be possible to change the rubber only.
However, I think it would require you to unbend one end of the chrome piece.
Maybe not to remove the rubber but absolutely to reinsert it.
It would be like returning the tooth past to the tube.

no unbending required. It just pulls out. Put your window down and have a good look at it.

You ever check out sugru? On amazon? Moldable glue. Could patch that rubber with it.....in place!

Possible.

I often use a medical syringe and warm liquid rubber to patch specific things requiring that sort of needle precision.

Were you able to do this? I see a little chrome tab on my 90 convertible at the end of the trim on the door towards the rear of the door. So, just angle that chrome tab out of the way and the strip will slid out?

I'm looking to order a couple of strips - super cheap. Like 15bucks. We had some hard rains here last night and I'm afraid a GOOD amount of water was able to run between the window and rubber - pooling a bit at the well in the bottom inside of the door....

My convertible is an 89. Pre facelift. I didnt need to bend anything im sure. I did a search and there was a very helpful thread by a guy who had done the same job. Main thing is lubricant when refitting to pull it along. Not too bad a job I'd say and I didn't even ask Greg or grant for help🤣🤣🤣
