Default Quick question about door window mechanism..

In several videos (e.g. youtube) I've seen someone raise the window all the way with the door open, then close the door. The window appears flush with the rear window. On my car if I did that, the window would jut out at the top (perhaps even damaged) because it wasn't dipped when closing the door. Is my car at fault for not somehow automatically dropping the window a bit before the door closes? Thanks.

I don't believe the window will go all the way up with the door open. There is a microswitch on the latch mechanism that tells the door computer that the door is not shut.

Thanks; that makes sense. Unfortunately it does go all the way up on mine.

Just to be certain I wasn't giving you false information I went down to the garage and checked mine. I cannot roll the window all the way up with the door open.

Try setting the window controllers by continuing to press the button after window is at full top or bottom until you hear a distinct click. Do it for up and down. If all else is good the windows should start dropping slightly when the door is opened.

That part happens properly. It dips when I open the door and goes up when I close the door. It's only when the door is open and I close the window, it goes ALL the way up with no dip.

+1 with Rothwell. Just remember the door is fully closed, roof is up for the setting process.

Thanks all - a reset appears to have cured the problem. I've also noticed that, when I close either door and the window raises automatically, it makes a click a second later. Is it resetting the upper limit every time the door closes?

I have never noticed that but my windows stay down a lot. I will check next time I drive mine. Definitely curious.
