Default Doorcard waterproofing

Just wondered if anyone has had to replace the plastic waterproofing in the doors. If so how did you go about it.? Seems a bit tricky getting the plastic sheet back in the door. Any help or suggestions appreciated as always.

It's actually only a vapor barrier.
A 6 mil sheet of Visquine will do the job.
More important is the auto body sealant used between the door and the barrier.
That should be applied along the top and everywhere that is cut through.
Any type of tape will degrade.

Thanks for your reply. I see what you mean about the adhesive. A bit of help from YouTube made things clearer. Didn’t realise how important these are.

From memory and looking at photos of others, it appears that the barrier goes in the actual door cavity. Does that seem correct? 89 car. Thanks

I have never seen that and I've seen hundreds.
The purpose is to keep moisture out of the door.
You should also clear out the drains at the bottom of the door.

On early cars, thats true. After seeing that, I made up my own vapor barrier that covered all the openings on my '87.
On my '95, the barrier is completely different, being more of a closed cell foam material over the inner door. Didn't stop moisture from warping the door cards though. No water stains, but they still warped form moisture. Have to get them redone.
