Default Driver Door Lock Issue - '94 XJS

1994 Jaguar XJS

ISSUE: Driver door lock will not turn CCW with either key

Single button key fob will activate central locking system, passenger door locks, driver door does not lock.

Sitting inside the car, when the driver interior door lock lever is put to lock position, passenger interior door lock lever also goes to lock position.

I squirted PB Blaster in the driver door keyhole, but only tinkered with this for 5 minutes.

Where do I begin?

Interesting. So the key cylinder will not turn and using the FOB will not lock the door, however the manual lock inside the car does work.

Will the FOB unlock the car door?

It's strange that the manual lock works on the drivers door only from inside the car.

Definitely remove the door card. You may need a new actuator, but I was thinking it was something jammed at the door handle/lock cylinder. If you take the door card off you should be able to see the the lock actuator operate, you can pull it up and down to see it work. Then you'll have to try to lock and unlock the door cylinder and see why it won't turn counterclockwise. You'll see the issue.

orgullodemexico,

It sounds like it may be the tension in the adjustable rods that go from the lock lever at the front of the door to the lock itself. Remove the door card and check and adjust the tension. This may resolve it.

Good luck

Before you do anything else, check that the interior door lock paddle is not in a halfway position.
I've had the same issue with my 94s and this is the easiest and surest way to eliminate a problem.
Removing the door cards are a drastic job and unless you know what you are doing you could get into trouble.
Make sure the B pillar latch is fully engaging and the door closes completely in line with the mechanism.
Check the easy stuff before you make more trouble for yourself.
