Default EAC4161 supplementary air valve

Hi guys.

Just a quick question. I noticed today while cleaning the car with the ignition key turned on to allow the radio to work but the ignition off the supplementary air valve in the a bank air filter felt hot to the touch. The engine hadn’t been started. Is the correct.

Rob.

Never tried.

BUT

None of mine run that solenoid valxe. Removed, and wires taped back.

Maybe NOT possible with some market requirements for emissions stickers, but we no got that nonsense until the '90's.

I would have thiought NO. Ign ON = Yes.

The first test is to check if the valve is opening when you turn the key to accessories. Pull it out and see if you can blow through it.
In principle, it should receive current (ie open) only when the a/c compressor kicks in. It is there to ensure no stalling at tickover when the compressor activates.
Also worth testing the wires with a meter to see if any current is leaking to it with the accessories position on.
