Default Early 1993 XJS

I have what I think is an early 1993 VIN 186721 ('93 was supposed to have outboard brakes; mine has inboard) Somewhat confusing to the model year????
The question I have pertains to the alternator. What alternator should I have in this car? Should it be a 115 amp or a 120 amp and will amps have any bearing on a car that has not been electrically modified? My alternator burned out at 60 000 miles I have not yet removed it and have a cancellable order in to Auto Zone for a 115 amp...Your opinion?

Thank you

you should fit the 120 in there is possible. Also, I do not trust Autozone alternators. Lifetime warranty= lifetime of changing them as they fail, IMO

afterburner1,

Outboard brakes came in at VIN 188105 which Jaguar called 1993.5 MY, although the US may call it something different? The changepoint was around May 1993.

The Alternator change point was at VIN 185820 when it moved to 120amp

Cheers,

Paul
