ebay listings - Question for US forum members
A little bit of feedback please:
I've been listing some items on ebay over the last few days, to try and clear out the plethora of parts and general memorabilia that I tend to accumulate and hoard, like so many others.
With applicability of XJS parts to both LHD and RHD cars, and the increasing value of many rare items, I've been enabling international postage options on some items that I feel could be attractive to overseas buyers, including US owners. I've done this by offering ebay GSP option on parts such as door mirrors, fog lights and fog light covers, indicators etc etc
I'm just interested to know whether US (or other international) buyers really do look worldwide for XJS items on ebay and consider purchasing from UK sellers?
Thanks for any thoughts.
Paul

Shipping can get expensive but, yes, I've purchased a few items from the UK over the years.....when I've had no luck finding what I wanted stateside. So, yes, I'd consider doing it again.

As a Canadian buying out of the US isn't a popular thing to do these days so I do look at what the UK vendors have to offer. That said , I still do buy quite a bit out of the US. The only complaint I have is if I purchase cross border from Ebay, it takes forever to get here.
I'm also Canadian and the ebay GSP isn't a bad option for price. It is nice to know the total before hitting buy it now.
As a general rule, I have always found it cheaper to buy from the UK than the US, for some reason shipping out of the US is often astronomically expensive. As an example, I bought a front bumper cover for my XJS after it was hit. I bought it from Welsh in the US ( and after that experience I will never buy from them again). It was shipped truck freight, took a week. When I bought another from Jaguar Classic Parts in the UK to replace the one from Welsh, Jaguar shipped it 2 day DHL and that was cheaper than shipping from US. It was also cheaper to buy the part from Jaguar Classic Parts too

Canadian here, I will buy from US no problem. The anti us sentiment is not felt by everyone.
if there is something I want/need I will buy it from anywhere.
have a link to your ebay listings?

Thank you all for your feedback, it's much appreciated. I'd also welcome any other comments from overseas owners as to the pros and cons of you buying parts from the UK. It's interesting, albeit counter-intuitive that some Canadian owners seem to find it easier or even cheaper to buy from the UK rather than the US?!
As regards my "ebay shop", I'm afraid that's a bit grandiose! I'm just a guy who's posting up a few items for sale to raise some cash. I've got some more stuff to post - more fog light covers, fog lights, a trip computer, a pair of headlamp chromes, headlights (I have 2 new brand new late LHD lights if I can find them today) etc. Be kind, but if anyone has any helpful comments on how I can improve the quality of my listing descriptions etc please do say. Anyway, here's my current items:

It is interesting that some find it cheaper to buy from the UK. Usually I find the exchange rate not very appealing nowadays but I don't know about the shipping. I used to sell a lot on eBay until some of their policy changes became too intrusive for me. I do still buy off eBay. A lot of items come out of china (isn't most junk made there now) anyways and I have had to wait a fair amount of time for them so having to wait on overseas shipping isn't really bad in my eyes. Do you have anything facelift related?
Best wishes,
Chris

I don't know why by it is always cheaper shipping from the UK. Even for unlikely things, I can buy a set of 5 tires with DHL 2 day shipping from Longstone cheaper than I can buy them from Tirerack in the US with UPS ground shipping that takes a week.
The other issue I have run across is so many US vendors only ship in the US, nothing international. Generally speaking, the UK vendors have no trouble shipping overseas. This is nothing new, I have noticed this for decades.
