Electric fault in XJS 3.6 1986
My 1986 XJS 3.6 shows the electric fault light on the dashboard (just over the speedometer). When does this light flash? What kind of problem is the car supposed to have? There seems to be no electric problem. That car doesn't show diagnostics on the onboard computer as it's an old model. The light is red with a symbol similar to a ray.

"Similar to a ray" can you be a bit more specific. Lightning type (zig zag), sunburst effect, or even a whale blowing.
Not too familiar with your dash.
But red, is a problem that should be looked at and sorted, rather than orange, which is more of an indication that all is not as it should be.
