Default Electrical Diagram Question

This diagram is from the 1995 Electrical Diagram Manual.
The 2 light bulbs near the bottom are labeled "STATE" and "LOCATE"
I assume they are British terms.
Can someone translate those terms into American English?

I believe LOCATE is the 'back-light' (to locate the switch at night) and the State is is the indication of operation or OFF.
