Euro Headlights
Bc xj,
They are different lights. I understand that it might be possible to take the fixing frames apart and fabricate some way of getting the frames to fit the other type headlights. I'm not sure if this works for facelift frames to pre-facelift lights or vice versa. I'm sure other members can clarify.
However, pre-facelift headlights are readily available (at least here in the UK) unlike facelift headlights which are no longer available. Therefore if you need a new headlight for an 89 car, you shouldn't have any problems anyway.
Hope that helps

Not sure how this applies, but I ordered a set of headlight bezels, the plastic piece that surrounds the single unit headlamps. I bought a chromed set on eBay to replace the damaged black plastic set currently on my car. The chromed set does not fit. Most notably, the outboard edge of the chrome set appears too large, and where the black plastic set has a screw on the outboard side to hold it in place, the chromed set does not have one.
I'm not sure of the year of the car either set came from, but I can also attest up the fact that differently designed parts were used.

In the US, the late facelift lens is plastic. In other countries it's a proper Carello glass one.
As I said, pre-facelift lights are easy to source, so I can't really see a reason why one would want to try and fit a facelift light to a pre-facelift car.
