The passenger side exterior door handle on my 83 XJS is broken, which I'm told is a fairly common problem. I have a 87 XJ6 with good handles, but they are a slightly different style. They are flush with the door, unlike the XJS which protrude a little. Anyone know if these are interchangeable?

In a word NO.

The XJ-S in unique, and very fiddly to change, you will need small hands and lots of patience.

 

unless mines out of adjustment i have two different ones from an XJS on my XJS. My 88 is supposed to have "square door handles.

Idk if its older or newer but some XJS door handles are rounded inside where you grab them. This is the kind i got to replace my drivers side handle and basically you have to pull it twice to open. Maybe I can adjust it but ive never looked into it..

 

xj6 wont work though. Linkage is different probably

 

Oh well, it was worth a shot.
I think I've found one (thank you Darel) from what I believe is an 85 with a rusted bucket. I'm pretty sure I can switch that part out with mine and make a functional one between the two.
