Fancy buttons
New XJS owner scratching my head looking at all these buttons on the dash and climate control. I have been searching this forum and still haven't found a simple diagram or explanation that goes over all 1995 options. I did see the huge XJS book and scanned through it (awesome BTW). Maybe an owners guide is what I really need. Suggestions?

No I'm definitely not saying that. Most seem to have a normal function but there are 3 that I can't identify and they don't seem to do anything. My Land Rover has twice as many buttons but they are all clearly labeled. If anyone has any diagrams or links explaining all the instrumentation on the 94 - 96 xjs I would greatly appreciate it.

Post a pic and I can splain it to you.
You are probably looking at the:
1. rear foglight button next to the front defroster button. Basically, it illuminates your tail lights differently when you activate this button. The idea is to make the rear of your car more visible in fog conditions.
2. nothing button on the left hand of the steering wheel. It's reserved for front foglights, if you had them equipped.
Both buttons have similar markings (but face opposite directions)
3. The other buttons are either interior lights, or front defroster. I don't know what other buttons you might be asking about.

Eurobikefan,
This site may help. JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
There are several links to Guides and specific model year updates.
Start with the "Jaguar XJS" link under "Electrical, OBD Codes..." column.
Hope this helps.

Fancy Buttons
On each side of the clock there are two dual switch gangs. To the right of the clock are the front and rear interior light switches. (Driver side foot well light does not come on with the switch by design, only when the door is opened) To the left of the clock is the rear window defrost left switch and the rear fog light right switch. If you have the front fog light option then both fog light switches are here. Front fog on the left with picture of light pointing down, rear on the right with picture of light pointing straight. On the left of steering column is the hazard light switch with a blank to its right. With the factory front fog lights the blank is replaced with the rear window defrost switch. The air conditioning fan control switch has five positions. 1st is off, 2nd is low auto AC, 3rd is high auto AC, 4th is manual AC low fan, 5th is manual AC high fan. The temperature knob should be self-explanatory. The slider above the radio controls the temperature differential between floor area and the front discharge grilles. To the left floor is warmer, to the right floor is cooler. Just to the right of the steering column is the left/right mirror adjustment joy stick, turn knob to left, center is off, right and adjust as needed. You should get yourself a factory “Drivers Handbook”.

Thank you for the replies, all very helpful! Those two interior light switches on the right of the stereo had me the most confused since neither work in my car. I also figured out that 2 other switches I was unclear about are aftermarket, one for the amp and still not sure on the other. Thanks again!
