Default Farewell to my XJS 6.0 (hello F Type). Thanks to all on this forum

A sad farewell from me to my XJS and especially to this forum and its members.

It has been a very enjoyable three years of ownership and visiting the forum.

Members have made me feel very welcome and been tremendously helpful.

Truly one of the best internet car forum I know.

Don't know any XJS forum, including Jaguar enthusiast club that have a better forum participation.

What a change. From grace, space and pace to noise and loads of fun...

Have fun with it!

Thanks to Grant & Daim for your replies, a tiny part of me feels guilty for letting XJS go, obviously this is compensated by having working air con in what passes for Summer in UK and amazing performance.
Not altogether disappointed by returning 28 to 31mpg overall over last six hundred miles (only got it four days sgo)

Will still call by the forum.

Have a number of new spare parts to sell, happily let them go for less than they cost me to a fellow enthusiast, with serious discount on heavier or bulky items if anyone willing to travel to Lancs in UK

I do actually like the F Type but I doubt I'd buy one. Dunno why, they just lack that 'zing' for me. The engine is great (I have, if you bought the V8/V8SC one, the smaller Jaguar V8 ever made to date in my XJ8, good engine, shame the car around it isn't ) and sounds nice since they changed the firing order a few years back...

What parts are we taking about? I don't have a FL XJ-S but am always looking for spares

Congratulations on the new F-type. I'm in the process of getting an F-type coupe and originally was going to sell the XJS but I'm thinking the XJS is a convertible and it runs great with low miles ('96 with only 45k on the clock) so maybe keeping it is a good idea. Did you trade in your XJS or sell it yourself?

It's impressive how low the XJS looks compared to what should theoretically be a low-slung sporty coupé.

Hi Daim,
Yes it's the V8, didn't know about change in firing order; see you proved my point about how knowledgeable folks on this forum are.

XJS parts wise, will have to make a full list,
from memory:
Marelli ignition ecu
Lucas 36cu fuel ecu
front discs
rear discs & pads (outboard, solid)
sanden sd709 air con compressor
air con receiver dryer
air con expansion valve (r12 type)
headlining mounted on fibreglass

I traded the XJS, I bought it a few years ago with 77,000 miles , sold with 120,000 miles on, would have been great to come close to Grant's V12 (500,000km, 350,000miles)

Enjoy the new ride! A shame you're not keeping them both. I really like that photo - the XJS totally holds her own next to the new hotness.

Know what I'm looking forward to? When the XJS becomes sexy again (to the designers looking to cash in on the next retro craze) and Jaguar does a new GT with some of its styling cues. Flying Buttresses and gothic tail lamps, anyone?

Say, a bit OT but whatever happened to the talented young car designer?

It looks like your car is going to make a decent price as long as the bids are genuine:

JAGUAR XJS XJ-S 6.0 V12 COUPE FACELIFT SILVER - FANTASTIC HISTORY, INVESTMENT

I think I'd be asking the seller to remove the invoices which clearly show a name & address though.

Are you wanting to sell the spares as a job lot or individually? If individually, what price do you have in mind for the Marelli ignition control unit?

Rgds.

Does look a nice one that. I'd have kept it alongside the F-type!
