finding valet switch and reprogramming remote
I have 1993 Jaguar XJS and I only have one remote that works. I work on the car often and sometimes have to disconnect the battery. The remote that I have will allow me to reset the computer when I'm done, so I can start the car, but I need another remote in case this one gets lost or stops working.
I have the second remote and called Jaguar to reprogram the remotes, they stated they don't work on Jags that old with remote problems. I took it to a lock smith who reset my XK8 remotes and they could not figure out how to reprogram my 93 XJS.
I did several searches on this this and found that I'm suppose to have a valet switch, but my model doesn't have one exposed, so your suppose to remove the center glove box and find a connector with a yellow and white wire, etc.. Guess what, the 93s might not have the wires under the center box. I removed the carpet, I removed the center wood cover and still no valet wires that are yellow and white, actually, no loose wires at all. I tried follow all the wires and never did find a connector that wasn't connected.
Does anyone know in what location is the valet wire connector and how do you reprogram the remotes on a 1993 XJS. Thanks

93greenconv,
If you can't find the valet switch connector block (has a black wire and a yellow.white wire) then you can always just connect wires to the two relevant terminals on the security ecu. Just look through the wiring duagram on your parts and service manual and you'll see which are the right pins.
Good luck

Try
Disconnect the battery....wait a bit.....reconnect and at every beep press the remote button for every beep. should beep 5 times. So for every beep press a remote, if programming 2 the press the 2 remotes then press 1 3 more times
Ps. look on the steering column under the wiper switch for the valet switch. Do you have a red led on the cigar lighter ?

I do have a red led, but it's on the left side of the steering column. I will try the disconnect battery. Its funny you mention that, cause when I've disconnected the battery before, it takes me 5 pushes of the working remote to get the beeping to stop and then I'm able to start the car. You might have solved my issue. I will let you know if it works in a day or two. Thanks

I have no idea if this a UK car, but I bought it in Milwaukee and they told me they bought it new in the states. All I know is that I can not find any valet wires, but I do have a security light that flashes by the radio and a red light on the left side of the steering column.
I am going to try and program the remotes by disconnecting the battery and clicking the remotes for a total of 5 times. I only hope it works. Thanks for the suggestion.

Tried the disconnecting of the battery and clicking the new remote 5 times and it did nothing. Maybe my remote is bad, I know the battery is new. I'm considering buying a new remote and trying it again. If I can't get a second remote, this might cause a major problem when the one working remote runs out of battery. Any other suggestions.
