"Fresh off the Jag"
Orange Blossom's talk about XJSs (XJSes?) appearing in BBC shows reminded me of the red droptop that Marvin, the dentist neighbour of the Huangs, drives in "Fresh off the Boat." With the help of the IMCDb, I grabbed a few images.
It's clearly been modified a fair bit. In addition to the very obvious bumpers and valence panels, it's also shown with rear seats, which only came in in the 1990s, so I don't think can be right--judging by the way the top folds down, it's a Hess & Eisenhardt convertible, but those didn't (as far as I can tell) have rear seats, either.
It's not in very good condition, either. Marvin's dental practice isn't as lucrative as it might seem. He's driving around in a ten-year-old XJS with headrests that look like this:
To say nothing of the serious issues shown here:
(In that scene, S04E01, we can actually see the rear bottom of the car scrape the road as Marvin pulls into his driveway...)

Hi Someday
'Fresh off the Boat' is ringing a bit of a 'bell'
Wasn't 'Eddie Haung' the Shows real life Creator?
As for the Car, She looks like a modified Hess and Eisenhardt, as you say but those Head Rests do look familiar.
Where I 'think' I've seen very similar ones in one of those 'Fragrance Adverts' that someone recently posted.
Maybe someone can manage to dig it out.

That is actually, IIRC a Hessen and Eisenhardt convert, check the little panel above the windscreen. I'd say around 1984 or 85 as it has a bodykit but not from TWR as far as I can tell...
In the upcoming new series of the Grand Tour (Topgear II) there will be a winter episode dealen with an XJR, an XJ6 and an XJ-S. So look forward to that. I think Clarkson has the XJ-S. May the XJ6 and Hamster the XJR...

Hi Someday
This is 'Weird' as someone seems to think that the XJS in 'Fresh off the Boat' is a Mazda 626!
Though interestingly 1988 (IMCDb)
No one seems to have noticed this but since it's your Thread Starter, I will leave it to you to do the honors.
