Default Front shock bushings

Are there other auto shock bushings that will fit my 1990 xjs and are there 2 bushings for each side front shocks? Jag dealer wants 125.00 for bushings.

Hell yes.

That model would have those "foamy" type bushes, one on top, and one below, on each side.

I found them dumb priced here at $25 each, so went to the parts store and simply picked up 4 from a Ford, $2 each.

OK, they were rubber style, so a tad firmer in the big scheme of things, but compared to the BANGING that was, it was a blessing.

You know your parts mobs better than I ever will, so outside of box thinking, and it will be an easy/cheap fix.

I reckon any GM bush will also suffice, and the best part is the car will never know it aint a Jag part.

The original bushings are no longer there don't have anything to compare a new bushing to. What year and model Ford?
Thank you

Down here, any Falcon/Fairlane, from about 1962 onwards.

GM (GM-H), any Holden (you will NOT find them up there), from about 1964 to 1981.

Basically a shocker bush with a 8mm (or close) hole in it, and about 30mm diam (or close enough), and about 12mm thick will do the job.

Corvette/Mustang/Chev etc come to mind. Basically any car that does not have "strut" type front suspension will have shocker bushes the same as the Jag.

It really is not hard, and from what i read on USA sites all the time Pep Boys seem to have a decent dose of brains.

Dont mention Jaguar, even down here, they run away, so just get him to look in the BACK of the parts listings at the numerical spec pages. Most will not know of these pages, so be persistent.

All else fails, try XK Unlimited in San Louis Obispo, they have all sorts and have helped me many times over the years.

the ones on my 83 disintegrated too. I went to Advanced Auto and found a generic rubber set hanging on the shelf. They fit perfectly and I think it cost me under $2. They don't look any different than any other ones for that style shock.

I hope what you've learned is:

NEVER buy anything from the dealer unless:

1. You have checked here
2. You have checked Advance, O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc.
3. YOu have checked eBay

Only after you do those three things can you possibly consider making a purchase at the dealer.

+ a few.

I add to that list from my point of view.

1)Look at alternatives, not very much is Jag specific, it is used by other makes.
2) Always think outside the box, it helps (1) above significantly.
