Default Finished up the Front End Today

Finished up the front end this evening.
Mina Gallery Lowering Springs, will bring the whole car down 1.2 inches, at a little stiffer rate. KYB Gas Adjust Shocks, stiffer than stock. Completely rebuilt calipers, new Square Cut Seals, Dust Boots, and Pistons. Ceramic VHT blue paint. Goodridge Steel braded lines to eliminate the squishy, and EBC red stuff 100% Ceramic Pads, and EBC Dimpled and Slotted Rotors.
Now to finish up the rears. Just waiting for my new Shock/Lower Control Arm Bolts.

That does look righteous, sir. Nice job.

James,

That's too pretty to cover up with a wheel! How will you drive the car?

Thanks for sharing the photos. Can't wait to hear how the brakes and lowered suspension perform.

Cheers,

Don

Really keen to see how it looks on the Mina springs... I have a set in a box here waiting to go on soon too

Did you take any height measurements before you put them in? I'd be very surprised if you drop a full 1.2", especially after 16 years of sag on the originals.

I did not, however my springs are still in fantastic shape, someone kept up with the shock replacement so the springs are still in great shape. Mina did mention that I can either leave in or remove the plastic spacers on the IRS shock towers. Chris told me that some people think it looks like the rear is lower with them out, and appears level with them in. I will probably leave them in.

I had the same thought, I actually found some blue center caps as well so that should be cool. It is a shame I can't just drive around on the rotors with all of it exposed....

I hope that you will not mind my negative reply but it's way too "ricy", especially on a Jag.
Also, showcasing a lowly single piston, floating caliper don't make too much sense.

May I ask how old you are?

The only reason I'm asking is because around here only teenagers driving asians cars would do that. ( well, I have seen fake caliper covers made to look like huge 6 pistons Brembos on a C6 Corvette driven by a gold-chained, middle aged man. He did not have a clue why we were all laughing)

Luc, dude my Gran told me if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing It' an XJR so why not, it's a sporty car. Most manufacturers now jazz their cars up including Jaguar so it's not a ricer thing in this day and age, everybody's different and it makes the world a wonderful place. Go back to sniffing your leather.

You are right. Let's put a splitter with canards and a huge adjustable wing on it. Will look great. I kind of hesitated before posting but this PC world is sometime driving me nuts

I just put my Mina Gallery springs in a few weeks ago. I cut one dead coil on the rear and the upper spring seat plus half a coil on the front. The fronts are a linear spring and the spring rate is unaffected by cutting. The rears however will have affected spring rate if you cut past the dead coils. I hope the Mina springs will sit low enough for you....however, they sat the same height as where my stock springs sat, which is why I had to cut some. 17 years of use on the stock springs caused some major sag.

^ This is exactly what I'm expecting too.
The springs are sitting here in a box but I've got a reasonably major service to get through (inc tensioners) before I'll be ready to tackle this.

I am interested to see how much strut travel you have after you install the springs. To begin with, I didnt haves whole hell of a lot of travel with the stock suspension. After the spring install and with using KYB Gas A Just struts, have even less travel. Thats with the bump stops cut down too. Thats why I have a set of custom adjustable struts on the way for the front.

Oh... the tensioner Job. First thing I did when I got the car six years ago. It had Gen II, so a little better, but I went ahead and installed the Gen III's. It immediately ran a lot smoother, and cranked over much quicker as well.

Ooo... Adjustables would be nice. In the past I have had to drive on KYB Gas A Just for a couple of weeks before they firmed up properly. I am hoping the stiffer springs and shocks reduce the body roll, and keep me off the bump stops. I am actually more concerned with rubbing. I run 245/45 on the front and 255/45's on the rear. A little worried it will rub, but I will tackle that once I test it out.

did notice that on the fronts vs the rear. The fronts are actually shorter, the rears have a completely different, extended coil pattern.

Let's stick to the car discussion and cut out all the posturing.
It's a discussion forum so if you post pics of your mods some people may not like them, that's just the way it goes.

You are right Norri. Apologies for that. It was a lot of work, money and time, and to have someone equate it to putting a fart can on it, and a "turbine" in my intake like some kid just pissed me off. I shouldn't have let myself get baited in to it.
