Default Fuel sending unit wiring

I have a 94 convertible XJS. Fuels sending unit was bad and I cannot remember which of the two wires went where when I pulled it.

Shouldn't matter, the sender is not polarity sensitive.

On a pre facelift HE (different sender) it is polarity sensitive. No idea if the facelifts are.

Yes, the earlier senders with a metal backing plate are polarity sensitive because they also ground to the tank. The later ones that are all plastic are insensitive to polarity.

Leave the bottom contact alone. Connect to the upper two contacts. Doesn’t matter which.
