H.E. Fuel barbs and hoses
Just thinking out loud.
Getting ready to replace the FI hose on my 87 HE.
I belon to 2 forums, have read Kirbys book, "THANK YOU!", and have read of many worries and troubles about "nicking", or already nicked barbs.
So, if this is the case, would it be possible, and safe, to "round" the barbs with emery and scotchbrite so it would'nt cut the hose with clamps?
SEEMS better than replacing the injectors, or fuel rail, but its just "thinking out loud"!

HE engine = barbed nipples = no clamps required = hoses just press on.
This is possible because the barbs are sharp. If you soften the barbs you *will* need hose clamps!
IME a couple minor nicks here and there won't cause a problem. If the barbs are pretty much nicked and injured all over, well, that might be a different story.
Cheers

As Doug said to the letter.
My HE had the hoses replced prior to my ownership, what a LOUSY job that person did.
EVERY barb was battle scared, so I used the wet and dry paper and took the time to remove those savage scars.
The barbs were softened significantly, so 7.5mm hose, proper EFI clamps, and all done.
Dont tighten the clamps too tight, just nice and firm, then after about an hours running just "snug" them up a tad.
You will note that the PreHE had no such barbs. The rails (they had 2) had a single "barb" at the tip (like a trans pipe etc), as did the injectors, and clamps on all fittings. They ran similar fuel pressure to the HE, and had few issues from my memory of many of them in our fleet.
