Default Hanging hinges - how to sort?

Hi all,

My Iron Lady (89 coupé) has a drivers door, which drops about 4 mm when opening in. You notice how much it hangs, when looking at how the door closes. There is slack in the upper hinge, so I assume it is really badly worn. What is more likely to wear out? The pin or the hingebrackets? Is there a fix to this, other than removing and replacing the hinge? Do later style hinges (convert. and facelift) fit? With fit I mean plug and play?

Cheers for some hints!

Damien

Have you checked to see if there is really play in the hinge? What I'm getting at, is that my doors were both out of adjustment, alignment. When I shut the door, the strike was compensating for poor adjustment by actually lifting the door as it shut.

Once I determined that my hinges didn't have play in them, I took the strike out of the jamb altogether. I removed the interior footwell panels, and using rags, a block of wood, and my trusty floor jack, I adjusted the door until it shut properly without actually latching. After I had this correct, I re-installed the strike, and adjusted it exactly right, and I have to say, both doors now shut with great ease, and don't change at all when when opened and shut.
