Default Happy Thanksgiving Gentlemen

and ladies... if there are any of the fairer sex frequenting our board.

unfortunately i've been unable to be in the xjs for about a month, and have therefore been getting my other ride 110%, so i'm cheating over on another board.

nonetheless, i hope you all have had or are having an enjoyable holiday.

and now back to my whiskey, and plotting the replacement of this possessed starter motor.

i'm fussing with a lower steering column shaft.

PITA u-joint became loose, causing some wander while driving straight, its all a press fit piece,RHD, getting at it requires a contoursionist body, and a few new remarks about engineering!

got a used replacement part and its loose also,(more remarks).

anybody else ever see the lower steering shaft have problems?

it was possessed indeed... or the actual explanation... the solenoid had shorted internally somewhere so the pinion gear would start spinning whenever current was applied.
i suppose i can still get a video of this as the starter in question still is sitting on the shelf.
