Well, as the engine bay looks like below, new hoses and rings are no worries

With the engine out is a good time to change the O rings on your expansion valve. Be very careful and gentle removing the nut, make sure to use a backup wrench on the valve so the evaporator is undisturbed. It's easy to break off the fitting, and then you are stripping out the dash to fit a new evaporator.

O rings are a standard size in most cases, usually #6,8 or 10. You can get kits that have a number of these. The O rings on the back of the compressor are different.

Usually different oil too. With everything as far apart as Daim has things, it's a good time to flush the evaporator.

A great idea to change the actual valve too, as well as the rings.

All to be done. I'm just looking at some little projects to do when I finally take my XJ-S to the bodyshop. Don't know how long that would take so a few things to do in the meanwhile won't go a miss...

Yes that'll happen when the AC recharge the system.
