Default header update

So to those who were following my build.progress I figured id post an update on the plan for the headers.

I have the flanged all cut out ready to go. And I am switching to 1.75 tubing because 1.625 stainless 304 tubing ishard to find affordably.

Using the ice engine.works modeling kit which I'm ordering tonight and will get to work this week.

That is way cool. I've built a couple sets of headers for v8s before and never seen it modeled out like that.
I will be watching this project
Thanks for posting

I see that you got the 1750 series (1.75" diameter). How many pieces total? Summit Racing's selector only wants to show 40 piece and less sets when you set the selector filter for V12 engine. I cant see a V12 header being modeled with only 40 pieces.

The base kit was 419$ I believe. Plus a couple extra ends to mock up. The kit is like 127 pieces.

I'm sure it will be worth its weight in gold by the end, with just how much trial and error it saves me

Looks like some of the header bolts would be difficult to get to thanks to header tube number 5 (?). Maybe it is just the angle of the picture though. Also curious about clearance. Definitely a cool kit though. I'll have to pick myself up one one of these days.

The bolts aren't terribly difficult to get to. The space between the headers helps a lot to get wrenches on the bottom bolts

Have to do a little rearranging of the passenger side to avoid the starter but so far they fit in the car with room to spare

That's crazy expensive.

Will you be making long tube headers, for the torque advantage, or shorties?

They are approximately 16 inches +- an inch each bend. So we will see what they do when I put it on the dyno

Looks great & just 3 more to go.
I'm sure you thought through this during the design phase, but, I'll ask anyways. With such extreme curvature, and knowing the close confines of the XJS engine bay, will this design give you adequate access to all the flange nuts once the motor is installed?

There is one bolt that will be a major bitch, but other that that they are pretty easy.

I chose the tight bends so I could keep as.much room as possible down near.the starter and oil housing.

The other headers I saw had larger bends but when I made.them up on the blocks.they were very far from equal length.

Personally I would take the tight bends over unequal length.
