When I turn the vehicle off (1992 XJS convertible) the horn will chirp and the headlights will flash at the same time in intervals of about 3 seconds. The only why I can get it to stop is to disconnect the battery. I have tried to lock the doors manually as I believe the key FOB doesn't work. Anyone else experienced this?

I would guess the alarm system need programing. When you reconnect the battery does it chirp ?

 

malc4d, yes it does the same thing when reconnecting the battery as well... I’ll try and run down the alarm and let you know. I appreciate the info!

 

you will need the keyfob to work. try pressing it after a chirp, if the tone changes then it is working. Press it after every chirp,(5), if it doesn't change the tone try a new battery in the fob
