Yes being a manual makes it more involving rather than just putting it into "D"
They actually made a few early manual V12's they are incredibly rare!
It would be interesting to know how many 6 cylinder manuals were produced!
I may contact and ask The Jaguar Heritage at Gaydon.

Just to update you the accumulator was replaced today no dramas straight forward no brake fluid spillage or pressure issues.
The pump now kicks in after eight brake pedal depressions. It now recharges with the pump turning off after approximately eight seconds. This compares previously with two -three brakes pedal depressions and at least 40 seconds to recharge it until the pump turned off.
Also passed the MOT

What a great day you have had. Accumulator sorted and MoT pass plus it looks like some dry weather this weekend to enjoy a good drive!
Where did you obtain the accumulator? I think I will replace mine also.

I purchased the accumulator from Island 4x4 they are based in Kent the cost was £90.00 +VAT with free and quick delivery just looked they are still at that price.
The accumulator is originally for a P38 Range Rover and is manufactured by Wabco P/N STC2784.
The stated manufactured date on my unit was Feb 2019.

Hi Ivan,
Reading my workshop manual it sounds as though this is just a simple process of unscrewing the old accumulator (after depressurising via brake pedal operation) and screwing on the new one. Is that correct i.e., no requirement to bleed the brakes afterwards?

Yes that is correct, but as a precaution I removed the 2 fuses
One for the ABS and the other for the pump motor they are situated in the fuse box on the passenger side below the glove box.
Even though the car had been standing for a couple of weeks without it having been started or the pump operated I still pumped the pedal at least 15 times just to be sure there was no pressure in the system.
The original accumulator was tight and a length of pipe was need for extra leverage, I wedged a small piece of wood between the pump motor and the fixing bracket to reduce the twist and strain on the pump mountings.
The new accumulator just screwed in and there was no brake bleeding required.
I removed the car from the garage and washed it the other day and left it standing for an hour or so when went to put it back later, the pump motor did not even start up so the pressure was retained by the system, this would not have been the case with the old accumulator.
Have you ordered your new accumulator?

No, not purchased yet - been busy on other (non-Jag) projects but thanks for the additional pointers on how to do. One query I have is that, according to my manual, the accumulator is initially charged with nitrogen at 84 bar. Don't know how critical this pressure is but does the unit you fitted state what the initial pressure charge is?

I have Gaydon in my diary but also have an MG event on the Sunday. Hopefully I can do both and we can meet up on the Saturday and compare cars.

I have bought a ticket and would like to attend but have a lot of family stuff going on around that time plus there are a couple of jobs I would like to attend to on the Jag before a journey to Gaydon. So, I am not 100% sure at the moment. If you ping me a PM with your email / phone I will do the same so we can confirm nearer the time.
I haven't got round to changing the accumulator yet. Mine came with a nut closing off the end. I presume I remove this nut to expose the thread and just screw the new one in? Did you use a strap wrench around the old unit to remove it or the allen key slot moulded into the top?
