Default Help with BAC6236

I have a 96 XJS.

Had my car recently repainted and these two parts are now gone. They are no longer available on JDHT. This is the thin rubber (?) strip between the window washer motor grill and the fender.

Do I really need them? Do they serve a real purpose?

is there some kind of alternate material I can use?

Thanks.

Default BAC6236 availability

parts@classiccargarage.net Contact LeRoy Sorrell in Jacksonville, Florida. He owns and operates Classic Car Garage. He stocks mainly XJS parts. He is also in the process of buying Pauls Jaguar in Florida. I have done business with LeRoy for over 5 years. Very reliable and reasonably priced. Mert (93 XJS coupe).

I think any generic rubber strip in the same shape will do. Most rubber profiles are rarely special only for a certain brand...

The strip between the fender and cowl is called "welting" and is used all over the automotive industry as well as other industries. It fills that gap to prevent debris and moisture buildup, but it also acts to dress the gap up. You can probably jam a new one in without removing the fender by using a plastic tool, like what comes in an interior panel tool kit.
