Was working on the beauty and I have a place where I put stuff (it's actually a file cabinet that just happens to be next to the car and I put stuff on it)
If ya'll haven't seen any of my other posts, I'm pretty much all in on replacing the bushings on the lower wishbone and everything else you have to touch to get to replacing the bushings on the lower wishbone
I only put parts and tools on the file cabinet, but I do have 4 kids that also put stuff on the "file cabinet" - like popsicles, sticks, rocks, etc...
I live in Texas
I was having a margarita while working on the car. Put my nice big margarita glass on the file cabinet. A few minutes later, go to drain it and I end up with a small o-ring stuck to the bottom of the glass.
It's gotta be from the Jag, right? But, where?
Big glass that works great for a Margarita - just happens to have an o-ring under it... 1989 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible - Castle nut for the lower wishbone fulcrum bolt and a "potential" O-ring from the Jag - Guess the O-Ring
I'm buying margarita's next time anyone's in Austin if you can figure this one out...
I dunno what the o-ring is from but most any time you work on an old V12 Jag you find stray bits: washers, nuts, clips, etc. that previous mechanics have let slip from their fingers. Sometimes a wrench or a socket, too !
At 6 beers down having just finished the MONGREL heater tap on Spouses S Type. That car will go one of these days. V12 spark plugs all day would be simpler.
So the blurred image has me leaning toward the Trans cooler pipes, where they attach to the radiator. I reckon your year will have "hydraulic" style fittings with an o.ring seal.
Black says OIL, as A/C should be Green, well down here they are.
Worry not, Doug has nailed the real reason, and we all stock up as we work on teh V12's.
