Help!! Intermittent Engine Failure..XJS

Check all the wiring, if you had a melted pipe you could have damaged some wiring.

How did the coil fail? open cct or low resistance (shorted turns)?

Shorted turns would have had the wiring and coil getting very hot and possibly damaged the ignition drivers and wiring between ignitor and coil.
