help working on a window
Hi folks,
Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial or step-by-step instructions for removing the right (US, passenger) door panel to gain access to the power window motor?
I have a '92, facelift XJS with power windows, locks, and mirrors.

slide back the chrome sleeve on the pull handle
remove the screw to the pull handle
remove the chrome plate at the top corner (light switch contact plate)
remove one screw directly under the map bin (forward end)
slowly work a plastic spatula under the door liner starting at the rear corner & pop off the plastic hold down studs.
when all studs are loose lift the panel slightly outwards from the bottom whilst lifting vertically.
take care not to bend the panels since it could be fragile.
hope this helps. Have fun

Thank you narrowguager, that worked perfectly.
I had not had these panels off before and thought it safer to ask than just assume a jag panel comes off like other cars.

OK folks, another door panel that just won't come off.
This is also a '92 and also a convertible. This time however it has power windows, seats and mirrors.
I removed the light switch striker plate.
I removed the two screws under the map case.
I am able to prise out the friction clips.
That is as far as I can get.
I cannot figure out how to disconnect the door latch /locking mechanism on this due to the power seat switches just forward of the door latch handle.
And I cannot find how to loosen the door handle above the map case. There are two screws below, and to the rear of the door handle, but no way to get to them. I cannot remove the map case for access due to the two rivets.
What am I missing?

The handle on the door has a trim piece at the front. Pull this trim piece back and it will expose a screw. It's kinda difficult to get at with a screwdriver, but you'll figure it out.
Once you get this screw out, the door card will lift up then out.
The door latch/locking mechanism is not the issue. Ignore that.
