Default hood colour

im already thinking about a new hood for my 89 navy blue convertible. I cant decide between black or blue for the hood and wondered what others think? was there only black available as standard or other colours and is there anyway of finding out what colour it left the factory with? many thanks for any help

Brinny,

The hoods came in a limited range of colours. If you contact Jaguar Land Rover Classic (ex-Jaguar Heritage) and order a Heritage certificate for your car, it should detail the colour of the hood as it left the factory.

I have a dark blue hood on my 94 Sapphire Blue convertible (Cream interior) and I really like it.

Cheers

Paul

Answer: Black!

Next Question.

No Seriously, I would definitely go for 'Black'

For starters it probably wouldn't fade as much as other Colours and a Black Hood really Compliments a Car of any Colour.

Obviously its up to you but my Hood is still Perfectly Black since when my Car was New but then I keep her in the Garage and only take her out with the Hood down.

If it's Navy Blue, you'll have a hard time finding a blue top dark enough to match. The blue top looks very nice on the midrange blues. I would tend to agree with Orangeblossom on the black.

You might be able to get a fabric sample sent, and see how they play off your paint tone.

Hi Brinny

If you live in the States, I know a firm in 'Vegas' who can supply DIY New Hoods, in lots of different Materials including OEM.

All you need to do is re-use your Back Window:

Ball Park: $450 and beyond.
