Hood Control Module
I recently acquired a 1996 XJS Convertible. The top & rear quarters weren't working, windows were down.. I found a blown 5A fuse behind the right rear tail light compartment that provides power to the top and window relays. Replaced the fuse, top and left rear window came up, the right rear window didn't. I ran a 12v feed to the motor from a wiring plug in connector in the trunk that runs from the window relays to the window motors. This proved the wiring to the window motor and the motor itself are OK. It look to me that the Hood Control Module interfaces with the top and windows and I'm thinking this is where the problem is. I've read numerous solutions on this site but I haven't come across anyone who replaced the Hood Control Module to try and make the windows work. I'd appreciate hearing from someone who replaced the Hood Control Module and corrected the problem. Thanks
Hey Paul, thanks for getting back to me. I tried swapping relays first then replaced all of them. All indications are that the right rear relays aren't getting any input from somewhere and the only thing I can see on a wiring diagram that is associated with the top and windows is the Hood Control Module. I was hoping maybe someone has come across this. GLM
