1750 kilogrammes = 3850 pounds ready to go. Buy the lift, you will love it! Put the rear arms on the radius arm mounting points for safety though.

Greg (& malc4d),

I SO want a 2-post lift especially as prices have been dropping massively in last 2 years.

However, but I do have restricted width of 9' 3" and height of 8' in the garage.

Any suggestions of what might be an appropriate model?

Tks

Paul

I believe this lift is also available from Costco for $1999. I'm looking at it myself.

I think that your most difficult problem is the garage width. There are minimum width requirements for safety reasons on 2 post lifts (in France at least) and it is a metre each outside side of the lift posts. Given the lift itself, this is well outside your total available. Basically, this is to ensure you can keep well away from it when it is going up and down. Of course the lift suggested above looks less chunky than mine, and they may be quite OK from the width point of view.

I believe they are more expensive, and I do not know how much more, but there are lifts that sort of rise out of the floor and the car is lifted by the sills each side. These are inherently narrower as there are no pillars to accomodate, and they might be a solution for you budget allowing.

Other than that, Practical Classics runs ads for a decent looking hydraulic ramp arrangement, that you drive one axle of the car the car onto, and then it is pumped up at that end. Worth looking at a copy, or if you are interested and cannot locate a copy, I'll send you a link with details.
