Default I LOVE my 1991 XJ-S Convertible

This thread is not about how to repair my car, but how much I love my car. It's been about 2 weeks now since buying my 1991 XJ-S Convertible, Classic Collection and I am still thrilled by my purchase. I have literally owned over 100 cars, most very nice for fun and showing. This car may be the finest looking/driving car ever! I just can't get enough of looking at it and when I drive it, permanent smile. I know everyone reading this thread shares my passion, I just had to get it out there, these are great cars!!

Great looking car! My own convert should be on the road soon. An XJS is rarely seen on the street and no disrespect to the XK8, those are quite common in my area. A distinctive classy ride.

Always nice to see a positive post, reminding us that this a Jaguar forum, not a Jaguar problems forum.
(Don't get me wrong: the advice given here is very impressive and generous. I just want to see more posts about actually enjoying the cars that require all this advice....)

I do get lots of compliments on the chrome wheels. The ones posted on EBAY seem like a good deal to me, they are OEM and for $250 a rim, you just can't go wrong. "Some Day, Some Day" I agree, positive story's are great, and I wish people would post more photo's of their cars, especially people new to the forum.

Do it easy, Alex, get your's polished up instead!

That is no big worry. Either just the lip or the entire rim... No big problem.

Hi Malc

Cheers!

But I've never been a Fan of Wires on an XJS, I've always loved the 'Lattice'

Each to their own.

Hi XJS Girl

Could be a bit of a problem, if they are on the USA Version of Ebay (ebay.com) as I am in the UK.

What Size and Make of Tyres are you using, are they 15in Wheels?

Hi Daim

I didn't know you could Polish Alloy that shiny, I'll do a bit of ringing round and see what I can find.

Same here. Wire wheels belong on cars up to the 1960s, but on anything newer they look like an anachronism at best. The lattice is a good "modernized" version, though a bitch to clean. I also really like the "kiwifruit" wheels from the X300.

Mine are nice and shiny but I have not cleaned in the lattice area yet. I was thinking of removing the rims one by one and cleaning that lattice area with simply green and a tooth brush. Anyone with better suggestions please chime in

I would not use Simple Green. It's been known to attack aluminum... Perhaps a dedicated alloy wheel cleaner?

Edited to add:

This is just one post I've seen along the way.
