Default Info on trans service for 96 xjs

New to this site. I have a 1996 xjs 4.0

I am going to do a trans fluid change, filter etc..Looking for info on doing this work myself but have not been able to find it. Anyone have this info on this subject before I tear into this job?

should be pretty straight forward. drain the fluid, drop the pan, pop the old filter off. check for the mouth seal, and remove replace if there is one. then install the new filter, bolt the pan back on, and add fluid.

You want to get the trans filter with the fluid inlet on the side and not the siphon on the bottom of the Filter. The tube on the bottom won't fit - it's for the deeper trans pan of the XJ6. Pretty straight forward job otherwise.

do yourself a favor and count the bolts in the pan.

GM(im thinking its a 4l80e or some variations trans) had different bolt patterns for different size pans
