Default Injector hoses and this sensor thingey...

Hi there,

I'm trying to plan the layout of parts in my engine bay and how some hoses can be laid tidily and saw this sensor thingey:

I've got no idea what it is for. What is it's purpose? Can I move it by a few cm/inch to the balance pipe connector bracket? I'd like to place it at the end instead of on top of the engine. Reasons: ugly, beige and dirty (can't get it clean).

Can I move that as planned or MUST that part be where it is?

At the same time: I 'm going to replace all my injector hoses but being stupid, I didn't measure first (as they just cracked off). Can anyone give me the lengths? 10 are the same size, 2 a different... But I haven't got any sizes/lengths...

Cheers!

Damien

that is a throttle control switch EAC4371 , and is vacuum controlled, so could be relocated out of site if you wish

the injector pipes can be bought as a kit on ebay , and are good value to be honest, you definitely need the right fuel pipe and right diameter, as they are held on by a barb ,ferrule and cup system, my first attempt by using ordinary FI rule hose resulted in loose fitting that leaked

i did a write up a few years ( 5 years ) ago on how i rebuilt mine , with the right hoses,

Cheers...

I've got the right hoses and different sleevs/ferrules (longer) so that is no trouble... Cheers about the control switch thing. That'll disappear out of sight then! No need for that visible...

Just the hose lengths...

Further to BB's reply, the purpose of that vac switch is to over-ride the throttle potentiometer at WOT. If the vac drops the switch earths and this has the effect of full enrichment at WOT thus ensuring the pistons do not burn their tops out. Wherever you put it, ensure it it still working properly and that it has a GOOD vac signal, a good condition live wire to it and a GOOD earth...

The hoses are all being replaced by some rather expensive silicone ones with a sturdy material strength. So I doubt a bad vacuum signal will occur.

I'm still searching for the hose sizes... I can't find any results regarding them!?

Page 243 of Kirby Palms Experience in a book for XJS owners, the ten short hoses are 1.75 inches and the front two are cut to fit once installed.
