Inlet manifolds (appearance)

Hi all,
Some may recognise my posts. I'm slowly doing up a 78 Daimler Double Six
As previously mentioned the engine bay was in appalling condition. Progress is glacial but steady, I'm still not sure what I have let myself in for.
I have been working on the inlet manifolds which I guess are the most visible and striking feature of the engine. They now look like new. I was wondering if anyone has tried applying a light coating of clear engine enamel onto the bright aluminium castings to retain their appearance and prevent oxidisation?

turns yellow after time from heat!

but prevents the oxidation or rust issues. go with a high quality, hi-temp product and your yellowing issues may be minimized.
Personally I prefer a slight yellowing over the oxidation on the aluminum pieces and the rust on the steel parts.

In the US we would use Aluminum Brightener designed
for pontoon boats. You don’t coat the aluminum, you just clean it occasionally.

I'm getting my intake/exhaust manifolds and a few other things redone in chrome-like thermal coating. Reduced heat, increased HP and a sharp look. Good up to 1400F and much more resistant to damage then bare metal.

Spend the $200 and find a shop that does thermal coatings like that.

exhaust manifolds ,1st ported & smoothed internally,then Ceramic thermal coated.

then inlet manifolds EXTRUDE HONED, very smooth and takes out the internal humps and bumps, injector protrusions, also opened up 1/8th inch alway thru, including the plenums!

outside painted RED, fins smoothed off for visual effect!

24yrs later , still looking good, better resolution also!

that coating does not hold up to exhaust manifolds and turbo housings ,it actually starts to melt off when it GLOWS RED>ORANGE!

N/A engines it works fine cooler temps, but at tubing bends it changes visual, been there done that!

still looks better than raw iron tho.
