I failed smog and I already replaced the rear cat to pass a couple years ago. The pre cats are originally. Has anyone ever tackled this.

I am in CA so I would need to weld new pre cats onto what is there. Has anyone had this done? What was the cost? I imagine it is a pain to do.

The complete header attachment is just too expensive and impossible to find for Cali. You can get them for the East Coast for about $350.

 

Check around, I know in the Chicago area there are companies that will take your old cat, remove the insides and replace it with new material for a lot less than a new cat, and it will fit right in.
