Instruments/Interior Lights out - 1995
My interior lights just went out - all the lights that light up inside. This excludes the all the lights that light up when I open the door. When I am in the car and all the doors all closed, he car is all dark and only the radio works and lights up. Headlight swith is on and the dimmer switch is to the right. My electrical Fuse plan (Left Fuse Panel) shows that there is a fuse #18 that refers to "instrument pack lighting" I will check this - If the fuse is OK - is there anything else I should check?

If your radio lighting is working and can be varied by the dimmer control then your fuse should be ok.
Check the output of the dimmer control module which is right by the fuse panel. The output is on pin 8. (Should be a Red/White wire)
You should have a range of about 4.5v min and 11v max as you vary the dimmer.
If you do have voltage there, trace that wire to the splice point and check that the connection is good.
Cheers,
Allan

Lights Out 1995 XJS
OK - I have checked the fuses on both sides of the interior - under the driver's side and the passenger's side . They are all good. What I have noticed is that the type and the layout does not even come close to the Electrical guide for the 95/96 XJS which I downloaded from this site. Even the relays are not the same.
While checking - waited til dark and started the car- turned the lights on - the cabin was dark. Then I move the light swich to the middle position and the dash lights came on. Moving more to right - turning the lights on - the dash lights stayed on. I repeated this several times and the dash lights - went on ocassionally - but most times did not come on -
Have not checked Dimmer relay because I am not sure where it is.
Maybe the problem is in the switch?

If your lights were operating then the switch is probably ok, as the one wire from the switch feeds the lights, dimmer control, security system and MFU. Check the connection on pin 7 of the dimmer control module. The module is under the drivers side dash near the fuse block.
If no voltage there, you will have to trace the splice point in the harness.

Allan
