Default Interior trunk light replacement

The interior trunk light socket (located above the CD changer)on my 96 XJS 2+2 has disintegrated so I want to replace it. From looking at what remains it appears to have originally been glued to the interior panel. Any idea what I should used to fasten a new one in place?

Thanks.

It was glued, so I'd do the same or you could try to use some kind of adhesive tape. The problem is getting something to stick to the trim panel. The adhesive tenses to stick to the fibers and eventually pull away. Some kind of clip would have been a better way to go.

FWIW, I've used e6000 glue on everything from oven door handles to trailer trim to jewelry and it's stuck all of it in place firmly. You might want to try that. I get mine at my local craft store, may also be in hardware stores.
