Default Jacking and storing for the winter

In the past, I have stored my cars over winter with 'weight off wheels'. This has saved the springs and tires. Is this also valid for the XJS? Does anyone recommend points to place my jack stands in order to accomplish this? I jack on the pins with drilled hockey pucks and would like a secure position to locate the jack stands. Thanks.

IMHO, I wouldn't leave the rear end raised without taking the weight through the wheels / hubs. You don't want to be letting the rear cage hang from its rubber mounts for long periods of times.

Good luck

If you are worried about flatspotting there are tyre savers intended for caravans and the like that help prevent it.

Other than that off the ground I concur with ptjs1 - only downsides to doing this.- if you are worried about sag over time it going to happen anyway -- if you are determined to do this I would put a bottle jack under each jacking button and maybe lifet some weight off but I wouldn't unload the suspension totally.

Where will it be stored - a bigger enemy to deal with is condensation, if you really are winterising there is a lot you can do but it will take a couple of weeks to do right between coating alloy parts, fogging various components,m WD40 works well for keeping condensation, I would remove the plugs, fog the bores then put the plugfs back loosely it is a good time for the annual service - do not be tempted to start the engine over winter unless you intend to get the car hot - and I mean hot, should really be driven once a month minimum.

You're overthinking this. I store my car over winter as follows: service the car (lube, oil, filter); clean and vacuum as required; inflate tires to around 45 PSI; park in the storage building; attach battery tender; put on cover; do not touch the car until spring. The car starts on the first try in the spring. I adjust tire pressures, check under the car for puddles of fluid, and then enjoy the car for the summer.

I'm curious about folks that store these for extended periods with alcohol infested fuel, which I guess is worse in the US, I have bad experiences with ethanol laced fuel degrading - maybe fill the tank to the brim ?? - add a fuel treatment of some sort ??

I fill the tank before storing the car; have not used any fuel additives. I've not observed any problems with ethanol in the Jaguar, but your message does remind me to change the fuel filter this fall. My Marcos GT has a glass-bodied fuel filter in the supply line to the carbs. I do observe a slow accumulation of very fine rust particles which requires periodic disassembly and cleaning of the filter.
