Default Jack stands??

I’m thinking of pulling the wheels off my XK to have them replaced over the next few weeks while it’s off the road for the winter.
Are there things I should know when picking out a set of (4) jack stands?
is there a certain type or an adapter I need for our cars, or is a jack stand a jack stand?

Take a look at this thread:

Axle stand points XKR - RESOLVED - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

It's under the sticky "How To/DIY Repair and Maintenance. LOTS of good info there!

A stand is a stand. Just make sure you get one that can hold the weight of the car. Use hockey pucks like this on the stands.

Probably a bit OTT but I don't like to leave suspension "hanging" for long periods. If the vehicle is going to be on stands for an extended period, I also put a wood block under each lower suspension arm to raise them from fully "bottom" position.

I'll add that it's worth investing in a good set of stands, so don't go for the cheapest set you can find. Harbor Freight had some issues with their stands where there was a risk of failure, so they had to be recalled. That's why I would recommend spending a bit more for something that's high quality. After all, it's your life we're talking about here.
