Jag frustration
I have 1994 Jag XJS 4.0 base coupe. Im trying to replace bad fuel pump located in fuel tank in trunk. My problem is how can i disconnect the fuel lines so that i can maneuver the tank forward enough to lift the pump out.
They have "quick connect" fittings.
This is a snap of the "Set" I have for doing that task.

Readily available at any Auto Parst Stor, and about $10.
You will need to get under the car, and then simply push the selected plastic thingy up into the tank, AND, at the same time push UP on the pipe (this aids the release of the clips inside the fitting), then withdraw the hole unit in one smooth movement.
You will find many posts on this nonsense in the X300 Section, coz that car has them all over the place.

Thanks for the info. I do have another question, with the lines disconnected will the tank slide forward without any issues. Looking up at the fuel lines it looks like a small compartment that the lines come down from the tank, will moving the tank make it difficult to reset that same position.
i have no idea on the XJ-S.
My X300 was the first I had encountered with that set up, and once the pipes were out of the tank, it slid into the boot cavity easily. I took it all the way out of the car, upended it and cleaned the inside.

I just did this job on my 94 V12 convertible. I did not have too much trouble sliding out enough to get my hand in and pull both pumps out. The tank does not need to go out all the way, just enough to get your hand in.
