Default jumping fuel pump

I'm wrapping up the replacement of the under-hood fuel hoses and some other maintenance on my car. When finished I thought I would run the fuel pump for a bit to check for any leaks before cranking her up.

I just want to confirm the easiest way to get the pump to run continuously with the ignition turned to on is to run a wire from the bottom of the fuel pump relay (where the orange wire goes into the base at pin 85) to a ground point.

Yes, orange wire, pin 85, or on my car, the fuel pump wiring loom runs along the top of the trunk trim piece behind the spare wheel, ie very easy to get at. There's a 2 way connector on there you can jump straight to the battery.

I have a mod that does the opposite or what you want :-) I have interrupted the orange wire and routed it through a toggle switch which is hidden in the trunk. With this switch in the off position, the fuel pump doesn't run in any condition. I use this when I want to depressurize the fuel rail, or when I am leaving the car somewhere "dodgy" :-)

Thanks, I think we have the same car. Is the connector in the wiring loom you are referring to located close to the hockey stick, or closer to the actual pump? I think I've seen a black 2 way connector you're talking about sort of in the crevice behind the hockey stick.
