i just got rear wheels that are 17 x 9 wheels et40, and id like to fit the largest size rear tire possible, i am upgrading the springs 30% and was hoping to fit a 275 tire or larger, and if i cant id like to know how to slightly widen the rear fender well aswell for clearence

 

I have seen 285 on the rear without widening the rear guards. The lip was rolled.

You could cut out the inner guard where the inner and outer come together leaving just the outer, this shoukd give almost another inch clearance

 

I bought 275 and i am lowering the car 35mm with king springs like you advised me to get, to make them fit i might end up using the phone book method that we use on my.friends s13 drift car (old school 240zx) where you unhook yhe springs place phonebooks spine in on the tire and lower the car using the book to slowly push the flare out untill you can fit them. Will prolly try this weekend and post a thread about it

 

Ok that sounds interesting. Post some pics of how you do it. Although 275 should fit with the lip rolled if the offset is right

 

Ive checked around and i found oyt that yoy need to 40 offset and thats what i got so i am hopefull, tires should be here today so well see
